I created these bookends to showcase a unique slit and drifted joint in a non-structural application. The heavy piece of folded 1" by 4" steel is what actually does the work of the bookend. To create the bend I used a specially made notching tool driven into the steel by my Nazel 3-B, a 300lb ram forging hammer. The bookends have a hand sanded and waxed finish. Each bookend is 6" high x 7" long x 4" deep. |
