I bought this flax comb at the Tongeron flea market in Belgium. I believe it is from Belgium since Belgium historically had a huge linen industry to make fabric for ship sails. The comb has primitive copper inlay and an incised pattern on one side and on the other side a magnificent 18 piece forge weld is visible. The handle, which has a tang going through it and is banded with wire, is a fine grained wood. I believe this flax comb is from the 18-19th century.
